UPCOMING PARENTING CLASSES:

* Feb. 3, 2012  "These Kids Are Driving Me Crazy!!"   Open to the general public, this is a class on the management of sibling rivalry.

* Feb. 10, 2012  "Mommy, I'm Scared! How to get your child to try new things."   This class designed for parents whose children have anxiety for some reason: generalized anxiety disorder, separation anxiety, specific phobias, selective mutism, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Asperger's Disorder, High Functioning Autism, or Sensory Processing Dysfunction. We will discuss the behavioral concepts of shaping and chaining using positive reinforcement of successive approximations.

 

 *Feb. 17, 2012   "My Child Won't Mind! What Do I Do?"   This class is open to the general public, suitable for parents whose children are ages 3-6yr or children with developmental disabilities under 10yr. The lecture covers general principles of behavior management with cartoons interjected so we can laugh at ourselves!

* Feb. 24, 2012   "Why Is My Child Acting This Way?"   This class is for parents of children under 12yr who have ADHD, Asperger's Disorder, or other impairments of Executive Function. Information will be given regarding the nature of Executive Function, reasons why traditional behavior programs usually do not work, and how to coach children to
exhibit the correct behavior.

Classes cost $20.  Reservations can be made with payment by phone.  While walk-ins are accepted, space is limited to 20 people.  Bring your own lunch and drink.  Childcare is not provided.  All classes are in Beyond Therapy meeting room.

We are so proudbeyond/LogoColorTextBelow.jpeg of all of the Season 1 Participants that completed 12 weeks of The Youngest Loser!  A total of 101 pounds were lost and 44 inches disappeared!!!  Most importantly, resting heart rates, blood pressure, endurance and self-esteem all improved!  Congratulations - you are all winners.

We are delighted to announce that Meg Edwards, OTR/L has joined our practice!  She brings excellent experience in Assistive Technology to Central Mississippi.  Welcome Meg!!!

We are pleased to announce the addition of Counseling and Behavioral Therapy Services!  Lorie Naef, LCSW is joining our group!!!  Ms. Naef brings over 30 years pediatric experience to our clients.  She will provide therapy and parent training for children who have emotional and/or behavioral problems.  Please contact our office to schedule an appointment and check our website for postings of Parent Training Seminars.

We are delighted to announce that Emily Winter, MOTR/L has joined our practice!

The Staff of BTPG has been fortunate to receive on-site training by 'Brilliant Minds Behavorial and Medical Solutions' of Destin, FL, in the modern ABA-Verbal Approach!  Currently, we are incorporating the training into our current cases.  In the future, we will plan to offer this very needed ABA-Verbal approach with BCBA oversite to children in Central Mississippi!!!

We are honored to be chosen by the APTA's Pediatric Section to appear on new booth!  The display booth will travel around the world. Can you find us below?

Judy Lindsay represented the Pediatric Section of APTA at Emory University's PT Leadership Conference.  The conference provided a platform for national leaders to "think outside of the box" regarding the future of the profession of physical therapy!


Our Speech and Occupational Therapists were thrilled to attend Dr. Temple Grandin's Autism and Asperger's Syndrom Conference on Feb. 11, 2011

Has your child outgrown their toys or equipment?
  Consider donating these items to our "Toy Closet"!  Our Therapists will pair your gently used toys or equipment with children who are in need of such items!   We ask that the toys/equipment are clean and in working condition.
